Care and maintenance of water-based synthetic leather

Every fabric in the world has its own specific properties, such as silk, leather, satin, etc. Each requires targeted maintenance and care to better preserve the item's style.

Every type of fabric in the world has its own specific properties, such as silk, leather, satin, etc. They all require targeted maintenance and care to better preserve their style. Huai'an Hyatt Technology Development Co., Ltd. is a manufacturer of water-based PU leather, independently researching and producing everything from the raw material water-based polyurethane resin to the finished product.

Below is a brief explanation of the properties and maintenance methods of water-based synthetic leather.

  1. Excessively high temperatures can cause changes in the appearance of water-based artificial leather, causing it to stick together. It should not be placed near a stove or radiator, and should not be exposed to direct sunlight.

  2. Leather furniture should not be placed in rooms with excessively low temperatures. Temperatures that are too low or prolonged exposure to cold air will cause the artificial leather to freeze, crack, and harden.

  3. Leather furniture should not be placed in high-humidity environments. Excessive humidity will cause hydrolysis of the water-based synthetic leather, damaging the surface film and shortening its lifespan. Therefore, rooms such as bathrooms, washrooms, and kitchens are unsuitable.

  4. When wiping artificial leather, do not use a wet towel or cloth; it is generally better to use a dry cloth. If a wet cloth must be used, it needs to be air-dried or dried with a hair dryer.

  5. Synthetic leather is made from synthetic fibers such as nylon, polyester, and polypropylene through processes such as laying, needling, bonding, and coating. It not only has good wear resistance and excellent mechanical strength, but also has elasticity and remains soft at both normal and low temperatures. Because it is made of synthetic materials, it is not afraid of insect damage, is not prone to mildew, does not require oiling, and has good water resistance. However, synthetic leather is not heat-resistant and is not resistant to chemical corrosion.

  6. When wearing synthetic leather clothing, be careful not to rub or collide with hard, rough objects to avoid damaging the surface coating. The synthetic leather coating is relatively thin and should not be placed near stoves or heaters to prevent the leather surface from being damaged, nor should it come into contact with corrosive chemicals such as acids and alkalis. When washing, do not soak in hot water, as hot water will damage the fiber structure of the base fabric. Do not use gasoline to wash it. Generally, you can use a soft cloth dipped in soapy water to wipe it, then wash it with warm water, hang it to dry in a ventilated place after washing, and do not expose it to the sun. After drying, it should be placed in a dry, cool place, do not fold it, and do not place heavy objects on it.
